Aloha!

Welcome new and dedicated subscribers to Breathe Deep!  We have over 1,700 readers now and growing.  I am quite honored by your caring and support... and I hope that you find this month's newsletter informative!

Happy Chinese New Year!  May this Year of the Metal Tiger be a joyful one for you. Some people interpret this symbolism as pointing to a "tough" year ahead, but my more positive-leaning Chinese friends relate the element of metal for this year to "gold", and thus feel that this will be a powerful year for good fortune.  I wish this for all of us!

It's curious the way we interpret the world around us, shifting and manipulating things to make them fit our world view and belief systems. One person can look at the "metal" element and see it negatively, another can change it to gold!  Ah, the power of our inner alchemy!

The older I get the more I see what amazing alchemists we all are... We each take the same basic elements and ingredients and create the unique worlds we experience.  It's kind of like Mexican cooking...you can make a wide variety of dishes using the same basic ingredients.  One chef comes up with a taco and another chef makes a burrito.  Our lives are a bit like that, right?  One person can make a mess of a perfectly good opportunity while another can succeed in the worst odds.

It is our judgments and belief systems that can either shut us down and make us a victim or open us up and help us fly.  What a dance it is to be honest with how we see ourselves and be diligent in releasing our spirit from the stranglehold of what we hold to be true.  What does it take for us to be courageous and see through the veil of constructs and habitual patterns that we've assembled around ourselves? Maybe the first step is to simply admit that this is true.  That's a tough one, to take responsibility for our dreaming, for the reality that we have constructed around us.  Breathing into this, opening our hearts to this, and embracing this with gratitude is so key to our spiritual freedom.

Qigong practice brings us into presence through the way we place our attention on breathing, movement, and intention.  For me, it is a modality that pulls together all of the healing principles I adhere to in one place.  Through the breath, we slow down and focus... we feel our connection to the plants and trees around us that provide oxygen for us on our inhales... and they rely on the carbon dioxide we exhale...the simple act of breathing connects us to the world around us... Movement reminds us that our bodies are our mirrors, they tell us where we need to do our work - whether it is an organ system that may point to an emotional imbalance, or an ache that shows us where we may not be paying attention to an inner need... Intention is our mental practice, what in Mandarin we refer to as "Yi."  It is our creative visualization that helps us remember that we contribute to the world we dream around us... from the way intention and attitude affect gene expression on a cellular level, to the way that belief systems (ego) mold the experiences we encounter each day.  Qigong pulls all this together in a neat package that helps us embrace the magical unfolding of our lives...

Now, I breathe into the fact that in less than a week I get on a plane and begin a journey that will take me more than 30,000 miles around the planet in the next four months, teaching in various countries, leading a group study trip in Thailand, meeting up in Romania with the software programmers that have been helping me create the amazing WujiTech Online Environment, seeing my family in Italy and New Jersey, and all the other unexpected experiences that one encounters when you trust and let go into the flow of life, into your dreaming... your wide awake dreaming...  Thank you for your support and good wishes... and maybe we will meet somewhere along this journey or you'll be able to join us on our annual Qigong Study Trip to China in September... please tell your family and friends about the places that Daisy and I will be visiting this year and help us get the word out.

Thanks for scanning the rest of this issue of Breathe Deep.  There's some info on the wonderful April 2010 Trip to Thailand and you'll also find the exciting news about Daisy's developments with her Radiant Lotus Qigong... and details on my upcoming workshops in California and Australia and the interesting WujiTech community-building software developments.

Thank you for your support and caring... I hope to see you at one of our upcoming classes or Qigong Study Trips to Asia and wish you, your family and friends a joyful and healthy Year of the Tiger.

In gratitude...

Love and Peace...

Qigong Study/Healing Trips to Thailand and China

Our group is filling up for this year's Qigong Study & Healing Trip to Thailand, my favorite group trip in all my dozen+ years of leading these adventures... and it's easy to see why...

Since people have been asking me to lead a Qigong Study & Healing Trip to other places besides China, our new Thailand itinerary addresses that. I have been traveling to Thailand enough now to really understand the magic of that country and to know where we can go as a group to really learn from this deeply Buddhist land... ok AND enjoy awesome sights, great food, and a melding of East/West healing modalities as I have never experienced anywhere else.

From 18 April to 4 May 2010 we will head back to Thailand for another true healing/rejuvenation focused adventure.  This trip is getting booked up, so if you are feeling ready for a change and a boost in your body/mind/spirit, consider this unique East-meets-West treatment journey that blends Western medicine high-tech diagnosis with Eastern holistic treatment... and a chance to study in an intimate group with Master Mantak Chia!  Thailand is one of my most favorite countries and this healing trip is becoming my model for what a "healing vacation" should be.

On this trip you will receive a full medical diagnosis, including Dark Field Microscopy to study your blood, as well as saliva, and urine analysis with Western-trained MDs.  We will then undergo two full weeks of Qigong training, massage, organic eating (with the option of a 5 day guided juice/soup fast if you wish), and an array of healing modalities from chelation to blood ozone therapy.  Each participant gets to customize their treatment with the help of a physician.  Francesco will teach daily along with classes by Daisy Lee, Mantak Chia, and Master Chia's senior students.  This really is a fabulous gift to give yourself in the New Year. I hope you can join us!

Our 13th Annual China Study & Healing Trip is planned for September 16 - 30, 2010.  The itinerary is now available after much work to confirm the many exciting details. This year Daisy and I head to Beijing to study with Master Wan Sujian who we featured on our PBS-TV Qigong Documentary as we always do for our first week.  His students and Qigong training facility is a wonderful way to immerse into learning about the healing powers of Qigong.  For our second week, we head to the magical city of Guilin where Master Wan will continue on with us - which we haven't been able to get him to do for years as he is so much in demand.  I haven't been to Guilin for many years, but did go with with Master Wan and practicing Qigong on a slow boat cruising down the Li River amidst some of the most beautiful and powerful Qi-filled scenery in China is an experience I hope you will get to enjoy with us again this year.

Radiant Lotus Qigong Workshops with Daisy Lee in California, Florida, Texas, Virginia and Europe - and her new, upgraded website!

Daisy has got a busy schedule for 2010, following up an amazing 2009.  Daisy's RLWQ Teacher Certification Training Program continues as a limited offering for select instructors and the next one is this coming week in Northern California, followed by another offering in Florida.  Daisy will also be offering classes to the general public in these locations as well. This empowering Qigong can help to prevent as well as treat numerous health conditions unique to women such as menstrual cramping, low back pain, breast tenderness, tumors, cysts or fibroids, as well as menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, memory loss, reduced libido, mood swings and changes to skin, bones and muscles that result from hormonal shifts as women mature and blossom into their "second spring".

Daisy's RadiantLotusQigong.com website continues to be upgraded thanks to the awesome efforts of our friend and strategic partner Kirk VandenBerghe.  If you are interested in high-end web services, Contact us and we will make the introduction.

Daisy just returned to the U.S. after teaching in Australia and will be heading to Florida (with support from John Walcott) and Texas (with support from Fayne & Chris Bouguyon)  in March, Philadelphia (with support from Paul Martin) and then Virginia/D.C. (with support from Peaceable Dragon) at the beginning of April and then off to join Francesco on the Thailand Study Trip. After that, Europe (including teaching with Francesco in Amsterdam May 15 & 16).  Her workshops have been receiving great reviews worldwide so we hope you can attend one when she comes to your area.  Go Daisy!

Francesco's lecture in Walnut Creek, California with Len Saputo, M.D. on Feb. 23rd at the Lescher Center for the Arts

There are opportunities we have to experience joyful synergy, and when we do, it brings a smile to our face as it reminds us that all is as it should be.  I get this feeling whenever I have a chance to be with noted author and health authority Len Saputo, M.D.  His 40+ years as a physician and his tireless search for the essence of true healing has brought him respect around the world.  I am honored to share the stage with him at the Lescher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, CA on Tuesday, February 23rd to present a lecture titled, "Relationships: Self, Community, Universe."  Knowing Len and my energy, this topic will take us to many places and will be a deep, reflective and joyful experience for all.  This is part of the non-profit Health Medicine Forum "Rethinking Wellness Series" that usually sells out to an audience of hundreds, so please come early!  For more info, visit www.healthmedicineforum.org or for tickets go to www.lescherartscenter.com

Francesco's Qigong Workshops in Walnut Creek, CA, Sydney, Australia, Amsterdam, Matera, Italy, and New Jersey

After two months back on Kaua'i, I'm back on the road again.  I'm still waiting to hear about the venue for February 27th in Walnut Creek where I'll be offering a Qigong workshop.  I then head to Sydney, Australia to teach sometime in March... more news on that forthcoming, but most likely it will be at Breathing Space in Avalon, wonderful Denby Sheather's wonderful yoga studio :))  After teaching with Daisy during our Qigong Study and Healing Trip to Thailand in April, I will be teaching with her again in Amsterdam on May 15 and 16.  We are working with some wonderful people there and I know this will be a fabulous experience.  Next I head to Matera, Italy, a spectacular city near to my family's home town.  I taught there in 2008 and so enjoyed it... and the group from the class has told me they've been practicing weekly every since!  So I've been invited back and am looking forward to this at the end of May.

In June I will pass through New Jersey to visit my family and will be teaching a Qigong workshop on June 12 with the support of Paul Martin and Dr. Christopher Viggiano (see below.)  It is always an honor to teach on the East Coast!

Dr. Christopher Viggiano's Workshop in NJ Feb 21st

I am pleased to share this notice about Dr. Christopher Viggiano's upcoming workshop this weekend in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  This workshop titled, "Yi Jin Jing Qigong - Muscle and Tendon Changing Classic" will be at the Self Awareness and Transformational Center on Park Avenue.  This venue is one block away from where my father ran our family business for nearly 50 years - and where I worked for six of those as a teenager.  To think that a facility teaching Qigong would be in that neighborhood back in the early 1970s was a fantasy... now it is a reality!  How times have changed.  Dr Viggiano is a well-respected martial arts, tai chi and Qigong instructor and long-time student of Master Jou Tsung Hwa.  For more information on this workshop - and the Qigong workshop that I will personally be teaching there on June 12th, please visit http://www.satcenter.com

The award-winning Qigong DVDs featuring Francesco and Daisy have been repackaged to better address the "wellness" market according to our distributor. The video content hasn't changed, only the artwork on the packages have. You'll start seeing them in more and more retail outlets and our hope is to reach more people searching for self-empowering healthcare solutions.  What a treat to see Qigong in Borders Books, K-Mart and in pharmacies!

Our newest DVD featuring Daisy teaching her powerful Radiant Lotus Qigong for Women is now available.  Daisy has some with her at her workshops and they are also available online.  We appreciate your support through your DVD purchases... and remember, purchasing them through our secure website helps to support our our work.  Thanks...

QigongTracker.com update - a revolution in tracking your health and practice

Thank you all for signing up for this coaching and empowerment tool if you have done this already.  This unique online tool is working perfectly thanks to a lot of hard work by an international team dedicated to making the WujiTech software offerings unique and effective!  It is really exciting to start seeing people taking their Qigong Tracking Surveys each week.  People have been writing me and saying how awesome it is to actually see their personal Tracking Graphs grow each week. Thank you to all the Qigong Instructors around the U.S. who have signed up to be Qigong Coaches (QC) on QigongTracker.  We are approving QC's individually, so thanks for your patience.  We need more qualified Qigong Coaches around the world and we encourage you to get your students to apply as well so that they can be matched with you.

If you apply to be a Program Participant, it is an automated process and as soon as you fill in the online application, you will be automatically "matched" with one of our QC's that best matches your wishes.  I think you'll like what this exciting program is all about... which we are underwriting for the moment, so it is free to everyone.

Through his new offering, WujiTech, Francesco has been working with a team of international programmers for 7 years designing this powerful software tool that can gather data and use it in unique ways for personal empowerment.  This tool for the Qigong community is called QigongTrackerand helps to match students with teachers, patients with healers, and clients with consultants.  It gathers information such as health or performance data and can track it over time so you can graphically see where you are improving - and where you need improvement.  It creates a personal database for you to work with your clients - and if you are a client, helps you get a handle on your growth and creates an objective perspective for you to work with your coach.  It creates a virtual, online community where you can communicate with others who share the same interests as you and allows you to be completely selective about what you share and who you share it with.

We are taking proposals for Qigong Instructors who interested in setting up Programs on QigongTracker so that they can track their students.  There is a good financial model that can help you generate cashflow from this as well, otherwise we can keep your Programs free. If you are interested, let us know.

If you are an individual interested in using this tool for your own empowerment, simply visit QigongTracker and select a Program that interests you.  You get your own Home Page and an array of powerful tools, including a Tracking Graph that grows with time so that you can watch your progress and development.  We are working hard on this exciting application so please keep checking back and watch it evolve.  For those of you who sign up before the end of this year we will be waiving our subscription fee for 2009 - so take advantage!

WujiTech - Online Community Building, Data Tracking, Coaching, Program Management and Reporting software

This online "software for listening" environment is evolving in a most amazing way and I wanted to keep those of you who are interested in working in the area of community building, data collecting, mentoring or coaching - whether it is with youth or adults - abreast of our developments. I've been designing and working on this unique software system for seven years and have created a new company around it called WujiTech (www.wujitech.com) An exciting new announcement about some important work I am doing with our school system should be able to be released soon.  Thank you for your good thoughts on this as it will revolutionize the way our public schools operate.  Another good announcement is having Dixon de Lena onboard as a Strategic Partner.  Dixon is a wonderful spirit with decades of experience in consulting corporate leaders committed to establishing authentic power as one core value of their organization's culture.  His expertise in community building and personal inquiry is a powerful addition to the WujiTech team.  Learn more about Dixon on his Integral Partnerships website

A new WujiTech Tu-tour-ial video is now available for viewing online at the WujiTech.com website.  This six-minute presentation - in full HD - is the best overview so far on the power and uniqueness of the web-based WujiTech Data Gathering and Community Building Environment.  Click Here to watch the online video

I am working now to bring this powerful software into Australia and have been making great strides now that we have our first clients onboard.  It will soon be installed in Thailand, and is now being used across the state of Hawaii to collect evaluation data from a myriad of teen and parenting programs. Sponsored by the Hawaii State Department of Education, the County of Kaua'i, we have been able to customize the Mentor Ohana tool for the special needs of our islands. With this, we will have the ability to monitor the status, effectiveness and outcomes of these educational programs in real time.

The core WujiTech Online Environment software is what is behind our successful  Mentor Ohana program (www.mentorohana.org) and is designed to provide powerful tools for any mentoring or coaching program. These range from assisting in the matching process, activities scheduling, participant communication, administration, journaling, survey evaluation and database management. The powerful Survey Builder and Tracking Survey components are indespensible for bringing integrity to any program and helpful in creating reports for grants and funding organizations. I know the power of this online set of tools for organizations ranging from small coaching firms to large county and city government offices that need to track data and manage programs of any kind. If you are associated with a group that may be interested - or know of someone who is - let me know and I will share more. I'm looking for some people who are also interested in working in the business area to get this software implemented in your area and generate some income through your efforts.

Kahuna Valley Retreat on Kaua'i - Watsu, energy healing, massage...

Kahuna Valley once again donated a four-day stay in our Aloha Suite on the Garden Island of Kaua'i, Hawaii to the National Qigong Association (NQA) for their silent auction fundraiser.  The lucky bidder/winner this year is Doreen Black and we will be honored to have her at our retreat... We thank Doreen for joining us in helping raise money for the NQA and their work to promote Qigong to the mainstream.
